HOW WE ROLL
FROM THE SERIES HOW WE ROLL
Imagine, a world where no body is the wrong body. And that is all we see. Realistic reality. Beautiful bodies. Free to be me.
Drawing on the art and creative practices of photography to collaborate and cultivate a diverse and inclusive world. Everyone deserves to see themselves reflected in the world around them.
ABOUT EMMA
Eccentric characters and colourful situations have always surrounded me. There's a hint of them in my work through a lens of care and reciprocity. Growing up, everyone was always there, Aunty's, Uncle's, cousins, and sooooo many kids. And I mean, people I didn't even know called our parents mum and dad. Our door was always open, and that's exactly how I approach life and work.
With feet firmly in contrasting worlds, people and place are everything to me. An inherent curiosity about humanity and culture frames my drive to listen, learn and look for the unconventional. So I've worked with people from all walks of life. They've been some of the biggest and smallest brands, under-represented communities, household names and everyday people like me.
I dream of making a difference with my work - to pave the way for change, collaborate and cultivate a diverse and inclusive world for my children, our rangatahi because everyone deserves to see themselves reflected in the world around them.
Ko Emma tōku ingoa. No Ngāti Kahungungu, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Awa toku iwi, mai i Te Matau-o-Maui ahau.
Nau Mai, welcome - my door is always open.
