CERTAINTY / UNCERTAINTY
FROM THE SERIES LIKE OIL AND WATER
Black and White. Right and Wrong. We categorise by nature and move on.
Stark and divisive dichotomies can shape our perceptions of each other. We categorise individuals and groups at times creating rifts and distance between us.
This work explores the tension and resistance between two opposing forces. The two substances mix and separate, studying the ebb and flow of certainty and doubt.
Moments of collision, coexistence, and sporadic integration. The oil and water may never fully combine, but the dynamic interplay between them creates a mesmerising, fluid dance.
This work is a visual meditation on the importance of bridging the gaps that divide us, and the power of empathy and curiosity to bring us together.
ABOUT VICTORIA
I’m an Auckland based photographer with a passion for food and the human connection that it inspires. My work showcases a vivid realism through my bold and optimistic images.
Originally from Sydney, I grew up with a passion for food. Coming from a family in food production it was part of my story from a young age. Upon finding a love for photography, these two worlds naturally combined. Since then I has delved into every part of the process and now finds myself equally at home photographing in a paddock as I am in the studio.
A background in theatre has resulted in a great love of mise en scène, I works closely with stylists and understand that what’s not in the scene is just as important as what is. This considered approach in combination with my structured process of image making, results in work that is not only bold and impactful, but also highly relevant to the projects display medium.
