VANESSA WU
CHRYSANTHEMUM
The shape of things is about discovering beauty in the most simple way.
In this chaotic and hectic world of change I'm taking it back to simplicity.
By stopping and admiring the smallest forms. The detail of something that we take for granted and over look. Nature holds such beauty and even in the small folds of some petals I feel calm and tranquility.
In Chinese culture, the chrysanthemum signifies a life of ease gained by sacrifice or hard work.
They also symbolise longevity, fidelity, joy and optimism.
This is the shape of things to come.
DRIED LEAVES 1 & 2
These images show the juxtaposition between their beauty and their fragility; their lastingness combined with their temporariness.
The fragility symbolizes the transience of time, with the beauty being found in it's imperfections and unpredictability.
They serve as a reminder of beauty retained, in spite of its passage and to extend the moment of stillness.
SNOW PEA FLOWERS 1 & 2
In Chinese culture, snow peas flowers are considered symbolic of good and fortune. The light and delicate beauty of the flowers is said to bring in fresh beginnings, positive energy an optimism.
By illuminating their simplistic beauty lets appreciate the small wonders in the world around us.
