ARTIFACT 1, 2, 3
A moment on the lips; a lifetime on the hips.
What do we permit ourselves to eat? To enjoy?
Indulgent food items permanently affixed to the body, set in stone, creating a historical artifact to endure for centuries.
No longer is a square of chocolate a moment of delight, rather a permanent disfiguration of the bodily form.
This taste of joy sits on a stomach, an enduring memento of delight.
VICTORIA BALDWIN | Founder of Women’s Work
I’m an Auckland based photographer with a passion for food and the human connection that it inspires. My work showcases a vivid realism through my bold and optimistic images.
Originally from Sydney, I grew up with a passion for food. Coming from a family in food production it was part of my story from a young age. Upon finding a love for photography, these two worlds naturally combined. Since then I has delved into every part of the process and now finds myself equally at home photographing in a paddock as I am in the studio.
A background in theatre has resulted in a great love of mise en scène, I works closely with stylists and understand that what’s not in the scene is just as important as what is. This considered approach in combination with my structured process of image making, results in work that is not only bold and impactful, but also highly relevant to the projects display medium.
